- These towering Cumulus are old outflow boundary clouds
- W970354Z
- An old outflow boundary extends away from a distant storm. The outflow air has warmed up and both sides of the boundary are clear. The change in wind direction along the gust front is just enough to support convergence and the growth of Towering Cumulus clouds. These sometimes go on to become new storms, but more often bubble for awhile before evaporating.
