- Low Altocumulus Floccus clouds: clues that they are not Fractus

- The dark, low cloud fragments below a typical Altocumulus sheet look exactly like Fractus but, surprisingly, are not! This “false Fractus” is a form of low Altocumulus Floccus clouds. Two clues exist: elongating elements (lower right) and a few with bubbly tops, suggesting mid-level instability, since surface heating is no longer a factor.
