- Early convection in pre-storm situation: Cumulus Congestus cluster
- W022810S
- Early convection in pre-storm situation. A good example of a pre-storm Cumulus Congestus cluster in a clear sky during late afternoon. All-day heating has cooked the air mass, weakening the cap (capping inversion) in a few favored places. Thermals begin and clouds sprint upward but are quickly evaporated or sheared over. However, now that the process has begun, bubbling will accelerate toward a storm.
