- Two Cumulus clouds with Stratocumulus anvils, induced by hills
- W022440Z
- Clouds induced by hills. Two Cumulus clouds with low, Stratocumulus anvils have built up preferentially over two high spots on rolling hills. The flow above these hills is curved but the clouds (updrafts) steepen this curve by pushing up against the horizontal air stream. This added localized lift has condensed a layer of moist air into a smooth, soft Pileus cap cloud at each location.
