- Outflow boundary clouds will not persist. Outflow from the back side of a storm pushes west into the clear sky as a line of tall, thin Cumulus cloud towers. The towers are very buoyant but are being ripped apart by vertical wind shear as the base moves west while tops are stretched eastward. The drier air is also chewing away at the updrafts, and the entire line vanished soon after.
