- This atypical cloud looks like a hairy Cumulus but is entirely frozen. However, it could be thought of as convective Cirrus because there is heat released by the sublimation process which would contribute to slight upward motion, enhancing ice crystal formation. The dynamics involved may be similar to that of Castellanus except at a higher level with colder, drier air.
