- A large area of updrafts fills the inflow side of a severe storm. Air from the left rises gradually as it approaches the storm, condensing into deep, layered clouds from which the taller towers emerge aloft. The storm and its dense outflow act as a barrier in the flow, helping to force air upward. The strongest convergence and lift occur above the low wall cloud lower right.
