- Distant thunder and a fast moving Arcus (gust front) bear down on lake
- W915512S
- Distant thunder may be the first sign, but many storms announce their arrival with a low cloud bank that moves in quickly as a gust front. Such a shelf cloud or Arcus will usually have a smooth, straight forward edge followed by a dark base, then lighter sky and rain. Here, the layered cloud roll sweeps in over the shoreline of a lake.
