- Strange cloud base under a storm. This close view of the lowered, rotating base of an LP supercell storm shows a dark, low cloud under a fanning updraft at the southwest end of the storm. All the air comprising the storm cloud originates here. The horseshoe shape is caused by descending dry air in the RFD evaporating a part of the base. The tilt is from undercutting outflow blowing to the left.
