- Rain pushes forward behind a thin, relatively high-based shelf cloud
- W003672Z
- A close view of a small section of the forward edge of a squall line. The cool air with the rain pushes slowly forward, causing uniform lift and a thin, relatively high-based shelf cloud. The air ahead of the axis is stable and does not convect when lifted. Forward moving cloud material is shaped into ridges by the warm air blowing toward the line to counter the outflow push.
