- Storm crowns with Velum, a Cumulonimbus accessory cloud type

- A squall line to the east is moving away. In its wake, a large Altocumulus sheet covers all but the bright tops of storm cells within the line. The crowns are joined by a smooth Pileus-like Velum sheet formed by the gentle lifting of the layer of air over the higher tops. This also proves that the air at that height is quite moist. Velum is a Cumulonimbus accessory cloud type.
