- History of a thunderstorm cloud as seen in its anvil

- History of a thunderstorm cloud. A storm cloud explodes in a dreamy sweep of puffy cloud. This spectacular smooth and creamy Cumulonimbus anvil cloud originated as a continuous stream of updraft cloud towers distant lower right. One by one, they climbed high into the sky until they flattened and blew downwind aloft, merging into one sheet but with many elements. Each of the thicker sections was once a distinct updraft bubble so the anvil is a complete history of this storm’s evolution over the past hour.
