- Time and change in clouds: ghost anvils and cloud remnants
- W022104Z
- Time and change in clouds. Stationary distant storms are throwing up sidelit anvils that fan out and blow downwind aloft. As time passes, each section of cloud becomes thinner by a combination of sublimation and diffusion, until only ghostly remains survive. These skeletal cloud remnants still show the outlines and shapes of the original anvil flanges.
