- Location and shape imply how and why a cloud forms. With a storm base overhead and a lowering at right, the flow of air into this storm becomes visible as a cloud strip when moist outflow air blows left under the base and curls up into the inflow axis. The underside is rough from uneven condensation as dry and moist air mix. Once cloud forms, it begins to turret.
