- Cloud condensation levels. The main condensation level (the lifted condensation level, or LCL) is where well-mixed boundary layer air condenses when lifted dry adiabatically, seen here as the general, dark storm base across the view. A separate, lower level for condensation occurs when higher dewpoint air from rain is drawn into an updraft to form a lower cloud base.
