- A developing gust front perpendicular to the striations in storm base
- W012688Z
- This developing gust front has a sharp, low cloud band along it, aligned perpendicular to the striations and cloud lines in the main storm base above it. Towers are growing within it to become new storm cells soon. These show up faintly in the vertical shapes above the base. Unlike the higher clouds, which are shaped by the inflow and winds aloft, the Arcus is formed by the advancing axis of cooler air.
