- Threatening fingers of low cloud on the leading edge of a storm
- W941959Z
- Threatening fingers of low cloud reach down from the leading edge of a storm. A strong wind coming out from a storm plows air up along the leading edge of this gust front and Arcus or shelf cloud, forming small Fractus tags where the air condenses under the cloud base. The ragged edge shows the uneven mixing of moist air from the rain with warmer, relatively drier (lower dewpoint) air ahead of the boundary, creating a rough surface.
