- Cloud types, Cb: lift diagonally across a distant mountain range is creating a stationary orographic Cumulonimbus cloud. Air converges along the short baseline, rises in successive towers, drops a heavy shower, then spreads to the right and fans out, freezes and evaporates as an anvil plume. The singular location is due to a local “hot spot” of either heat or moisture, or enhanced winds.
