- Cloud types, TCu: an air mass is becoming more unstable as the sun heats the air. Buoyant thermals shoot skyward, forming tall, thin clouds. With tops blowing over, these Towering Cumulus clouds are not too large yet but their persistent, vigorous growth will lead to storms later on.
