- Vertical wind shear shapes clouds: shear stretches anvil flanges
- W003475Z
- Vertical wind shear shapes clouds. The recent past hangs frozen in the air as anvil flanges drift away from a bubbling updraft source. Evaporation has dissolved the unfrozen lower parts and is thinning the Cirrus with time. With faster and more southerly winds higher up, wind shear stretches the highest parts of each flange to the right.
