- This view across the flow aloft shows bands of high Altocumulus clouds (lenticular if viewed from a distance) which form at left and spread downwind in a standing wave pattern to the lee of distant mountains. The discontinuous cloud pattern equates with changes in moistness in that layer. At top left are hints of two superimposed and very similar layers. (See upwind view, W002168Z.)
