- Dryline clouds before storms begin
- W931408S
- Dryline clouds before storms begin. The dryline is a large-scale boundary separating deep moisture from drier air to the west. Farther north, this axis is often clear early in the day but reveals itself as a line of Cumulus later. Clouds are initially formed by strong heating on the dry (hotter) side of the boundary. They begin thin and high based, but will sprout and fatten as the day progresses.
