- Cumulonimbus Mammatus, accessory cloud type on storm anvil
- W942241S
- A propagating thunderstorm complex is maintained by new updrafts on its right end. The rising air adds to the anvil and rain to its left. As the cloud spreads farther out and becomes more horizontal, the anvil underside begins to sink downward and develop creases, lines and mamma in a radiating (parallel) pattern along its gently sloped surface. These Mammatus clouds were sometimes referred to as a Cumulonimbus Mammatus accessory cloud type.
