- Clouds arranged in parallel bands by a lee wave pattern
- W941365Z
- Altocumulus clouds arranged in parallel bands by a lee wave pattern in the atmosphere downwind of hills. Each band looks like a typical lenticular element which gives the impression that the flow is along its length. However, this is an illusion and the actual flow rises and sinks in short up-down ripples as air travels through and across the bands. The bands are compressed in the view by distance.
