- Thunderstorm cloud: a clear example of the multicell storm type
- W853402S
- A very clear example of the multicell storm type. Three separate phases of stronger updraft activity are apparent in this thunderstorm cloud. The oldest is now an anvil flange at left, while the newest is a large tower at right. Each phase takes about 20 minutes. Outflow from the previous phase undercuts the updraft base causing a lull in the activity until towers regroup.
