- Supercell thunderstorm: updraft region, sharp anvil and overshooting top
- W834512S
- Supercell features: a thunderstorm with a wide updraft region in process of becoming a splitting storm (see W834515Z). When the powerful updrafts hit the top of the troposphere and slow down, they spread sideways since the air has to go somewhere. Part of it pushes upwind against the flow to form a razor sharp gray anvil edge. An overshooting top pokes above it into the sunlight.
