- Vertically stacked wave and Helmholz effect clouds
- W970877P
- This is part of a deep wave cloud within a standing wave crest, to the east in evening light. The vertically stacked cloud has at least four thick layers. The view is along its edge so the arc cross-section cannot be seen. Above the band of clouds, several turrets emerged and were curled forward and flattened by wind shear in a Helmholz effect.
