- A rare example of Velum. The accessory cloud forms similarly to Pileus in this case, by a bent flow (right to left) over a storm, condensing cloud matter within the lifted air. But here, the wave structure or crest is on a large scale affected by the entire storm (Cumulonimbus) cloud bank. This storm’s top is not too high, so the cloud strip survives evaporation better.
