- Mammatus clouds on large Cumulonimbus anvil cloud
- W873421Z
- A large anvil cloud is left in the sky behind a departing squall line. The Cumulonimbus Mammatus clouds anvil underside develops numerous mamma as blobs of particles sink out of the cloud sheet. These are mostly rounded where the anvil is horizontal or where they are newly formed, but they elongate into alternating ridges and grooves where the anvil surface is sloped at top.
