- Large mamma pouches due to subsidence behind a gust front
- W872604S
- A low cloud deck behind a gust front is dramatically altered by the formation of many large mamma. The pouches form when widespread subsidence in the wake of the gravity current forming the outflow boundary causes the layer to become negatively buoyant and sink. Tiny particles of water along with small downdrafts form the rounded bulges as they descend.
