- Heavy snow squall from an ice crystal plume
- W895234Z
- The temperature is below the freezing point everywhere except at the ground in this unstable air mass. A convective cloud has lost all of its water parts and descends as a heavy snow squall or shower from an ice crystal plume. The falling snow appears to evaporate in mid-air like Virga, but it melts as it passes through the melting level and loses its reflective character.
