- Close-up of rare cloud form, with elongated Mammatus clouds

- Close-up of a small part of W873419P revealing a rare cloud form. The light lines are thinner cloud letting light through on the underside of a sloped anvil surface of a storm. While mamma hang lower down where the anvil is more horizontal, it is possible that they cannot form on the steeper sloped parts. Instead, sinking air appears to slide “down” the slope in these ridges as vertical wind shear elongates the pouches.
