- Squall line cloud features. A complex scene behind a fast-moving squall line, viewed southeast toward the south end of the wind-shift line. One by one, new cells form anvil plumes that merge with previous, older ones. Anvils are left behind in slower winds aloft while lower parts rush forward. Below, strong winds exiting the system carry low clouds out to the clear sky to evaporate.
