- Solar heating has warmed a mountain ridge, and thermals are rising to form small Cumulus clouds. The ambient flow is to the left along the ridge, and as this warmed air reaches a higher peak it is lifted further to become unstable (buoyant) and shoot upward as a skinny tower.
