- Buoyancy of cloud due to thermal and updraft
- W992068S
- Buoyancy. A Cumulus cloud’s buoyancy, or ability to rise, is determined by the temperature of the thermal and the rate of cooling or instability of the atmosphere. This surprise updraft is buoyant initially, but slows as it enters a more stable level. Wind shear, dry air and limited instability combine to prevent the cloud tower from growing larger.
